Samuel Lazarus, 83, of Williamsburg, died on August 4, 2017. He was born August 9, 1933 in New York, the son of Herbert and Elsie Lazarus. He is survived by his daughter, Janet; sons Russell (Stephanie), and Steven (Michelle), and granddaughter Sharon. A well-traveled man, he also leaves behind the many friends and acquaintances he met along the way.

Mr. Lazarus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and is an alumnus of New York University and the University of California, Berkeley. Always enthusiastic about keeping up with his intellectual interests, he...

Samuel Lazarus, 83, of Williamsburg, died on August 4, 2017. He was born August 9, 1933 in New York, the son of Herbert and Elsie Lazarus. He is survived by his daughter, Janet; sons Russell (Stephanie), and Steven (Michelle), and granddaughter Sharon. A well-traveled man, he also leaves behind the many friends and acquaintances he met along the way.

Mr. Lazarus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and is an alumnus of New York University and the University of California, Berkeley. Always enthusiastic about keeping up with his intellectual interests, he also attended classes at the College of William & Mary after moving to Williamsburg.
Locally, he was involved in Rotary International and a devoted member of Temple Beth-El. He was also supportive of the mental health community, and volunteered his executive and board-level skills.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 10 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
