Gaetano Antonio Carrubba, 84, died peacefully at Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia. Mr. Carrubba is survived by a son, Gaetano Gerard Carrubba and his wife, Lori of Newport News, Virginia and a daughter, Tina Spezzano and her husband, Marc, of The Woodlands, Texas; He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Katherine Frances and Sarah Christina; sister, Josephine Carrubba of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and brother, Diego Carrubba of Bayonne, New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria Gallo Carrubba and Gaetano Carrubba.
Gaetano was born in Riesi, Sicily on June 13, 1932 and was raised there until immigrating to the United States in 1957. As an adult, he worked as a suit designer for nearly 40 years at Carlin's and Abraham & Strauss which later became Macy's. His attention to detail was legendary when it came to fitting clothes on people. He had a knack of accurately figuring out your size just by looking at you. He also took pride in the fact that he always left his customers satisfied.
Gaetano retired from the business in 1997 to pursue a life of rest and relaxation. His love for the game of soccer was second to none as he made it a point every Sunday morning to watch it. Helping his family was always a top priority to him. He will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Services will be held this at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, N.J. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.nelsecares.com.
Arrangements under the direction of Nelsen Williamsburg, Williamsburg, VA.
