On Friday, March 27, 2015, Doris Benson Wildenberger was taken to be with her Lord. Doris was the beloved wife of Bruce Wildenberger of Norge, the loving mother of Pamela Wildenberger of Toano, and Paul Wildenberger and his wife Rebecca of Williamsburg, the cherished grandmother of Conner and Elaina Wildenberger of Williamsburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Pernille Benson, her sister and brother-in-law Pearle and Glenn Miller, her brothers and sister-in-laws Melvin and Mary Benson and David and Joyce Benson.
Doris was a lifetime resident of the area, born in Lightfoot and moving to Norge in 1963 after her marriage. She faithfully served as a lifelong member of Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norge, VA.
Doris was a charter member of the local Norwegians Worldwide chapter. She had an avid interest in the history of the area and photography and used both to document the changes along Richmond Road in Lightfoot and Norge. She contributed to several books on the area with her photographs.
Her greatest passion was her family and again used her photography to document moments in the lives of all of her family and many of her friends. She has left a roomful of photo albums that are organized for her family. She also documented the family history and passed that interest onto a couple of her nephews and nieces who are continuing the tradition.
A viewing will be held at Nelsen's Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2nd from 4 pm to 7 pm.
A funeral service will be held at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 4th at 4 pm with a reception following. Interment will be a private ceremony later in the week.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Doris to Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7479 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
