Don was a self-employed contractor and a lifetime resident of James City County. He grew up and spent most of his life on or near the York River. He was an avid fisherman and hunter all of his life. He enjoyed travel, even working for a time as a long distance truck driver. He was a skilled carpenter who was a jack-of-all trades. He loved all animals, especially his dogs. He loved to feed and watch wild birds and deer that would visit his yard. He was always happy to spend time with friends, sharing stories and a good joke over a cold beer. He was well loved and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com.
